Using IdeaScale to Submit Your Ideas

Thank you for your support and for joining our Engage SSA community, a series of virtual engagement discussions, focused on advancing our agency priorities. IdeaScale is providing hosting services for these discussion forums under an agreement with the Social Security Administration (SSA). The website does not follow the same privacy, security, or accessibility policies of SSA. For more information on cookies and our policies in regards to cookies, please review our Engage SSA’s IdeaScale Privacy Policy for this citizen engagement.

If you prefer not to use IdeaScale, are blind or visually impaired, need help submitting your idea or comment, or want to give us feedback on any of our forums, please contact us at Engage.SSA@ssa.gov. To protect your privacy, please avoid including personally identifiable information in your message and do not include any Social Security numbers.

Ground Rules

The purpose of Engage SSA is to promote two-way communication with employees, and members of the public, to help SSA address mission-focused, mission-driven, priorities and initiatives. It is a limited public forum for that purpose. In a limited public forum, SSA sets clear boundaries for users and reserves the right to remove content that is off-topic and not in the public discourse. Prior to submitting your posts, we ask that you review the engagement questions (listed at the top of each community engagement).

Per our comments policy, we may delete posts if they include any of the following:
  • Personally Identifiable Information [PII] (e.g., social security numbers);
  • Threatening, defamatory, or obscene language or material (such as pornography or violent videos);
  • Hate speech;
  • Spam or undecipherable language (gratuitous links will be viewed as spam); and
  • Personal details about our employees. While we love to hear feedback, we want to respect our employees’ privacy. You may post about office locations.

Please participate at your own risk, taking personal responsibility for your comments. The Social Security Administration does not endorse any external posts or links that appear on this site. We do not guarantee or warrant that the information posted by anyone other than the Social Security Administration on Engage SSA is correct, and disclaim any liability for any loss or damage resulting from reliance on any such information. Our official agency responses will include the user name, SSA Moderator.

We ask that you submit inquires/comments related to specific benefit situations through normal SSA channels (see Contact Social Security). On Engage SSA/IdeaScale, a non-secure site, we do not have access to personal information and are not able to answer specific questions about a claim. Inquiries will not be associated with an individual’s benefit claim, nor will they protect benefit filing dates or rights. To file a formal compliant with allegations about program discrimination by the Social Security Administration, complete form SSA- 437: https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ssa-437.pdf

The IdeaScale Terms of Use are intended to support open discussion while ensuring a respectful exchange of ideas. We reserve the option to review your ideas against these Terms before posting publicly, which could result in a delay.

We recognize that the Web is a 24/7 medium, and your posts are welcome at any time. However, given the need to manage federal resources, moderating and posting of ideas and comments will occur during regular business hours Monday through Friday. Posts submitted after hours or on weekends will be read and posted as early as possible; in most cases, this means the next business day.
